taking the passive out of passive-aggressive

Question of the day, please comment:

Is the interweb sentient yet? If so, what makes you think so? If not, why not? And when will it be, if ever?

Don't be a smartass. I wanna know.

well, let's be clear. what do you really mean by "sentient". is the internet concrete? is it substantial? is it "real"? by definition, it's certainly part of my conscious being. tell me, homeofdismay, what do you want from me? what do you need?

Ain't no thangs alive in this here innerweb.

From whence comes this question? Got some concerns?

Okay, to expand on my vague negative response above.

I do not think it is currently sentient. I am having trouble formulating a particularly good explanation but here goes.

I suspect if it was sentient like SkyNet in Gov. Black Oak's movies, you'd be seeing a bunch of things going on. Those'd be particularly SkyNetish behavior, whatever that'd be. WHo can say? Would computers revolt and take us over I doubt it somehow. We program them after all.

RIght now it's just a dumb automatic network, full of passive inorganic loopholes exploted by hackers and marketers.
